The Selaginella moellendorffii sample was … The Selaginella moellendorffii sample was harvested by Prof. Hasebe (National Institute of Basic Biology, NIBB) outdoors. The Physcomitrella patens samples were provided by Dr. Ishikawa and Prof. Hasebe (NIBB). The Marchantia polymorpha sample and the growth media were provided by Prof. Kohchi, Dr. Nishihama, and Dr. Nakai (Kyoto Univ.). The Populus nigra sample was provided by Prof. Demura, Dr. Sano (Nara Institute of Science and Technology), Dr. Ohtani, Dr. Ihara (Tokyo Univ.), and Dr. Susa (RIKEN CSRS). The Lotus japonicus plant was grown on a cultivation shelf. The ginkgo sample was harvested outdoors. The harvested samples were immediately frozen in liquid nitrogen and stored at -80C.
